Bio

Martin Mooney is a prolific fine art painter whose signature mastery of still life and landscape painting has earned him recognition as one of Ireland’s most accomplished artists. He studied at the University of Ulster, the Brighton Polytechnic College of Art and Design and the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art at University College London. Here, he established the admiration of his tutors and critics, including Euan Uglow, Sir Lawrence Gowing and Brian Sewell. Influenced by the natural beauty of Ireland, Spain and Venice, Mooney’s work is radiant with the rich palettes and vibrant fervour that surrounds us in nature. Using rich tones, glazed layers and striking compositions he has developed a recognisable style as a result of his outstanding technical ability. Awarded the official artist for HRH The Prince of Wales Royal Tour of Russia (2003) and for the Baltic States (2001), his work has been recognised by many for its skill. Exhibitions include Dublin, New York, London, Toronto, Barcelona and Belfast.
