Stephen Cullen is an Irish artist who has been actively exhibiting since 1982. He has established himself critically as an ‘unabashed colourist‘ in the Visual Arts Review of the Year and a ‘superb colourist’ in the Irish Arts Review. Depicting Irish landscapes and scenery, his technical ability enables his style to prevail in both abstract and representative work. Cullen paints in oil on canvas to carve out Irish landscapes and seascapes, vivifying these scenes with the energy and life-force of the natural world. Cullen has shown frequently in Ireland, as well as in Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and most recently in London. He has been invited to show in the international EIGSE exhibition and the RHA annual exhibition in Dublin on several occasions. Additionally, his ability to combine brilliant bold colours with the simple motifs around the iconic east coastline has created a constant demand for commission work.
