Catherine Greene

Bio

Catherine Greene is an established figurative sculptor working in bronze and latterly mixed media. Her artwork explores the figure in the context of the sensual and often surreal world which they inhabit. She utilises symbolic imagery and iconography to create visual intrigue which enforces the captivating and introspective nature of her artwork, Her versatile output ranges from large-scale civic to private commission and large exhibition pieces to smaller sculptures. Major commissions include the equestrian memorial of the patriot Thomas Francis Meagher in Waterford, the Memorial to the beloved comedian Dermot Morgan in Merrion Square, Dublin and the central Altarpiece sculpture of the crucified Christ in the new basilica in Fatima, Portugal. Greene is an award-winning artist who has exhibited across Ireland and the Netherlands and has works in private collections in Russia, USA and the UK. Her extensive portfolio has been recognised across the board and her expertise has enabled her to work as a lecturer in sculpture at the College of Marketing & Design, Dublin.
