John Fitzgerald has established himself as one of Ireland’s leading contemporary Equine, Sporting and Portrait artists. He is a graduate of Industrial Design from Letterkenny Institue of Technology (1996) & Swansea University, UK (1997). He also holds a Diploma in Antiques and Fine Art from IPAV. It was during his studies that he developed a strong understanding of draughtsmanship, particularly the conceptualisation of three-dimensional form. In his paintings, sculptures and sketches he conveys the strength and elegance of his subjects, captivating viewers with the dynamic energy and emotional expression of his artwork. He continues to garner prestigious commissions from private clients and companies including an impressive repertoire of leading horse owners, trainers and jockeys, such as portraits of Lester Piggot and 20-time champion Sir Anthony Peter McCoy OBE.
