Steve Browning is a graduate of Leicester School of Art & Design, who commenced his career as creative art director, working in the UK and Ireland leading ad agencies. He made the transition from an award-winning Art Director to a full-time artist in 2002, using his artistic eye to paint ‘en plein air’. He paints predominantly landscapes with figurative representations, working in acrylic. His work engages with the interplay of light through the use of soft tones and short brush strokes. By creating his artwork on-site and often in only a few hours, he captures the life and spontaneity of local scenery in a way that is unique to the plein air method. The artist has exhibited work in London, Dublin (RHA), and Belfast (RUA) and can be found in collections across UK, USA and Ireland. He has won awards from the Dublin Plein Air Festival, Wexford’s Art in the Open Festival and was a finalist in the prestigious Plein Air Magazine of America in 2020 and 2021.
