The title Circle of Friends discovers the professional and personal interactions between Maeve Binchy and William Ireland. How they successfully teamed up. Ireland’s artwork provided a visual representation of the warm and hopeful themes depicted in Binchy’s novels.
This beautiful and important exhibition coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of Maeve Binchy’s passing, and showcases for the first time to the public in Ireland, eight original paintings by William Ireland. Binchy described Ireland’s work as ‘warm’ and ‘full of hope’, calling to mind the themes displayed in her work with ease.
Four paintings belong to the Binchy Estate that were book covers for the novels Quentins and Nights of Rain and Stars. Ireland went on to paint ten of her novels forming part of Binchy’s story as a multi-million copy best seller translated in over 30 languages.
